Rules and Regulations
Please read carefully before entering.
1 – CONTESTANTS
This competition is open to both students and professionals, age 18 and older.
2 – SUBMISSIONS
In order to participate, contestants must submit adequate documentation of their product solution, including:
– Brief description of product, and how it addresses a particular focus area.
– Research to back claims regarding product purpose and functionality.
– Key insights from research that influenced design decisions.
– Product visuals (sketches, renders, photos, video, etc.)
– If at a prototype level, include photo/video of the product in use.
– Detail your next steps (i.e. what do you need from Axiom to get to market)
Acceptable file types include .PDF or .PPT.
You may submit a .zip folder if your submission includes multiple documents.
*Please limit file size to 20MB.
3 – INCENTIVES
Selected winners will recieve:
– $40,000 in funding for the development of their product.
– Accelerated incubation utilizing Axiom’s rapid product development services to take your product to a production-ready level, including design, engineering, prototyping, and testing.
– Opportunity to pitch your product to a Fortune 100 consumer health product company for the option of aquisition or licensing. 4 TIMELINE Contest opens for submissions June X, 2017 at 12:00pm
4 – TIMELINE
Contest opens for submissions June X, 2017 at 12:00pm.
Contest closes July X, 2017 at 12:00am.
Submissions will be viewed on a rolling basis, therefore earlier entries may have a higher likelihood of being considered over later entries.
5 – DEGREE OF PRODUCT MATURITY
Axiom will consider entries of varying degrees of maturity. Minimum requirements include a convincing visual design concept with strong research backing. There are three tiers of maturity, which must be self-defined by the contestant upon submission:
– Design Concept: The contestant has produced a convincing design concept with clear, understandable visuals. Adequate research has been done to prove the usefulness and effectiveness of the proposed product. The concept displays forethought to the method of production and engineering needed to make the product a reality.
– Proof of Concept / Prototype: The contestant has proven their product concept functionality through a prototype, breadboard model, etc.
– Market-Ready: The contestant has proven the functionality of their product and worked through the details of production.
6 – MULTIPLE ENTRIES
You are welcome to submit multiple different entries. However, submitting the same product idea across multiple focus areas will be considered as one entry only.
7 – ENTRY FEE
There is no cost to enter.
8 – CONTEST RESULTS
Finalists will be notified by July X, 2017 via email to further discuss their submission, and winners will be selected shortly thereafter.
9 – LEGAL
Axiom is a product development and innovation firm with a staff of designers and engineers and is constantly creating new products and product ideas for ourselves and our clients. An idea submitted via this contest my already have been developed or be under development from Axiom or its clients. We suggest that you consult a patent attorney or intellectual property advisor prior to submitting your idea. In order to submit an application or to be reviewed by Axiom, you must agree to the following terms: – Axiom and its clients are released from any and all obligations to you in connection with the manufacture, sale or use of your idea or any portion thereof except such obligations as may result under valid, unexpired patents which may have been granted or may be granted in the future. – In order to evaluate the submission, Axiom may need to disclose the idea to third parties. Axiom is under no obligation to maintain the idea in secrecy. Decisions regarding sharing the submission with third parties are at the sole discretion of Axiom. – All submissions or disclosures of ideas are voluntary on the part of the submitter. The submitter is not bound by any prior agreements which prevent disclosure of the idea nor preclude
